Creating Custom Search Filters

Creating Custom Search Filters

Users aren’t used to having to manually search through hundreds of tours listed to find what they want. When they are ready to book a tour, they know exactly what they want. Why not help your visitors out and help them find what they’re looking for faster, letting them book a tour from you before they become frustrated and leave?

Using Vacation Labs CMS as your website builder we allow you to create custom filters based on your tour types so that you can create custom filters as you invent.

To create Custom Search filters we would have to create a custom field which will contain the different search options than we will have to tag the tours with the respective filters and finally display the new custom search filter on your search page. And then you have a custom search filter ready for your search page!

Firstly to create a Custom Field with all search options please follow the below steps,

  1. Go to SETTINGS > TRIP CUSTOM FORM > click on ADD NEW FIELD

  2. Select the Field Type as Pick Option from List. (This allows you to tag a tour with multiple options)

  3. Add all the option available for your search filter in the Options field. (Please remember to hit Enter key after every search option)
  4. Select the Display as an option to Multi Select Box.
  5. Click on Done.
  6. Again click on I'm done with my changes.

Now we have successfully created the Custom field, we now have to tag the tours to their respective options.

Please follow the below steps to Tag a tour,
  1. Click on the Products tab

  2. Select the Tour
  3. Click on Edit button
  4. Navigate to Basic Details

  5. Scroll down the page and you should find the Field that you have created recently.
  6. Select all the options from the drop-down that is applicable for that tour.
  7. Click on Save.

Great! We have now tagged the tours to their respective options.

Please repeat the same steps as above on all tours so that you can tag them all too.

We now just have to enable this search field on the Website.

Please follow the below steps to enable the same,
  1. Click on the Website
  2. Click on the Search Settings
  3. Click on the Add Custom Filter option on the right side

  4. Give a Name to your search (eg Holiday Types, Destinations, etc)
  5. Select the Filter from the Drop-down available in Link to Added Custom field of Trip

  6. Click on the Add button
  7. Click on the Save button

Great! We have now successfully completed all the steps and the Custom filter should now be visible on your search page.
