What are Urgency Triggers?

Urgency Triggers allow you to display short messages, like Selling fast or Last seat left at multiple places in the booking flow. This allows you to build a sense of urgency and nudge your customers to complete their bookings sooner. The exact message can be changed as per your requirements. Urgency Triggers are shown at the following places during the booking flow:
  1. Storefront > Tour Page > Dates & Rates section
  2. Storefront > Date-based collection page
  3. Storefront > Tour booking form > Date selection step (only in list view, NOT in calendar view)
The exact message displayed depends on the number of seats left in a departure. As of now, there are four Urgency Trigger messages that can be configured and an additional message for the Sold Out scenario. For example, it is possible to configure the following Urgency Triggers (it is possible to change the number of seats, and the messages):
  1. 0 seats left: Sold out
  2. 1 seat left: Last seat
  3. 2-3 seats left: Last few seats
  4. 4-5 seats left: Selling fast
  5. 5+ seats left: Available
You can configure the urgency trigger message and the number of seats at which the urgency trigger message is displayed, allowing you to control the remaining capacity according to your requirements.

Enable urgency triggers for your account

Please navigate to Website > Booking Engine. Here, you can enable or disable the Urgency Trigger function.

Note: This is a premium feature and might be in a locked state, as shown in the screenshot below. To enable this feature, you may need to upgrade your account. Please reach out to support@vacationlabs.com in case this is locked for your account and you wish to use this feature.

Important note before going live with Urgency Triggers

By default, the urgency triggers will be shown along with booked / available seats. If you wish to display urgency triggers instead of booked / available seats, please ensure the following configuration in all your tours:
Navigate to Products > Trips > Edit the trip > Settings > How does your customer pick departure dates on the storefront? Here, select the "Show departures in a list view" option and enable the "Display a section with upcoming departures on the tour details page" option. Additionally, under "Show me more settings," disable "Display seats available" if it is already enabled, and save the changes.

Where are the Urgency Triggers displayed?
At the time of writing this support article, urgency triggers are displayed at the following places:

Tour pages > Dates & Rates section

If the Dates and Rates Section addon is enabled for your account, you can display a Dates & Rates Section on the tour details page. In this section, instead of showing available seats, you can display the Urgency Trigger message.
Please click here to learn how to enable Dates & Rates section
(Note: This is an add-on; you can only use this feature if you have purchased it.)

Collection pages > Date-based collections

To display the urgency trigger message on the collection page, the collection page type should be set as Date-based table. To enable this, navigate to Products > Collections, edit the collection, and select Date-based table.

In the storefront, under the availability column, the urgency trigger message will be displayed.

Booking form > Date selection step (list view only)

To ensure that Urgency Triggers show-up on your booking form, navigate to Products > Trips > Edit the trip > Settings > How does your customer pick departure dates on the storefront? Here, select the "Show departures in a list view" option.

Once you do this, Urgency Triggers should start appearing on the first step of your booking form as shown below:

Changing urgency trigger messages

To change the default Urgency Trigger messages and the number of seats at which the Urgency Trigger message is displayed, navigate to Website > Localization > Storefront and Booking Flows. Here, press CTRL+F and search for 'urgency_triggers'.

Each urgency trigger comes in a pair, consisting of a message and the number of seats less than or equal to it. When the number of seats is configured accordingly, the message will be displayed.
NOTE: These rules will be applied to all tours and all departure dates/time slots. In other words, currently, it is not be possible to have different urgency triggers for different tours and different dates.
When the number of available seats is 0, meaning the slot is completely booked, the message displayed will be "SOLD OUT". If you want to configure this message, please search for the string "store_front.themes.flexi_theme.partials.trips_date_based.sold_out" in the localization section.
